Transformational Leadership and Strategic Growth Guided by the Monk Principles ©
Mike Ferrell is an award winning author, speaker, leadership coach, business strategist and Benedictine Oblate who transforms ancient monastic wisdom and faith into powerful tools for strategic organizational growth.
The World Has Changed. Ancient Wisdom Hasn't.
You're a values-driven leader navigating a world that's more chaotic, fragile, and exhausting than anything your leadership training prepared you for. There's a 1,500-year-old system built for exactly this — and it starts with who you are at your core.
THE PROBLEM
Something Essential Is Missing. You Already Know It.
You have the strategy. You have the talent. You've read the books and done the trainings. But somewhere between who you are at your deepest level and how you show up on Monday morning, something gets lost.
The world you're leading in has fundamentally changed. It's brittle, anxious, unpredictable, and moves faster than any plan can keep up with. The leadership toolkit most people handed you wasn't built for this — and it certainly wasn't built around your values.
Your people aren't thriving. And if you're honest, neither are you.
THE SOLUTION
What If Your Deepest Values Were Your Greatest Leadership Asset?
I'm Mike Ferrell — The Monk Guy. As a Benedictine Oblate, business strategist, and leadership coach, I help purpose-driven executives, entrepreneurs, and leadership teams close the gap between who they are at their core and how they actually lead — and build organizations genuinely capable of thriving in today's chaos.
The bridge is 1,500 years old.
St. Benedict built communities that survived plagues, wars, economic collapse, and civilizational chaos — not through rigid control or inspirational slogans, but through principled systems that shaped character, built culture, and sustained excellence across generations.
That same wisdom, translated into a complete leadership framework, transforms leaders from the inside out and builds organizations that don't just survive disruption — they flourish through it.
The people you lead will never need to know where the wisdom comes from to feel the difference it makes.
Leadership, teams, strategy, and sales — most people treat these as separate problems requiring separate solutions. I don't. Whether I'm coaching an individual leader, developing a team, building a strategic plan, or sharpening how an organization grows its business, I'm doing the same thing: helping people lead from their deepest values and build organizations that reflect them. In Benedictine communities, the bell calls everyone to the same purpose regardless of what they were doing before it rang. Consider this your bell.
WHO THIS IS FOR
You're in the Right Place If…
Your values run deep, but your leadership doesn't always reflect them
You're tired of compartmentalizing — keeping who you are in one box and how you lead in another
Your organization is capable of more, but something essential is missing
You want your character, not just your competence, to define your leadership
You're ready for transformation that goes deeper than strategy
THE INVITATION
You Were Never Meant to Lead as a Diminished Version of Yourself.
The leaders who change organizations are the ones who've been changed themselves. That transformation doesn't happen through better tactics — it happens through the kind of interior work that most leadership programs never touch, now translated into a system your whole organization can feel.
You don't have to choose between your values and your effectiveness. You never did.
Let's begin with a conversation.
THE FRAMEWORK
Ancient Wisdom. Modern Systems. Finally, A Leadership That Looks Like Who You Actually Are.
Most organizations are quietly marked by four crises — scarcity thinking, misalignment, exhaustion, and isolation. Benedict called it grumbling. You might call it burnout, culture rot, or drift.
The Monk Principles address all four at the root, through a complete leadership system rooted in Benedictine wisdom and validated by modern organizational research.
What changes isn't just your strategy or your culture — it's you. And when you change at that level, everything around you begins to reflect it. Your people experience dignity, clarity, trust, excellence, and genuine community. You experience the integration you've been looking for your entire career.
Your leadership finally looks like your values. Your values finally shape everything.
Five Principles. Twelve Transformation Steps. One Complete System.
THE DISCERNMENT CALL
Not a Sales Call. A Conversation Worth Having.
In the Benedictine tradition, discernment is the practice of listening carefully — to what's true, what's needed, and what's next. That's exactly what this call is.
A Discernment Call with Mike is a focused 45-minute conversation designed to do three things:
Get clear on where you are. We'll talk honestly about what's working, what isn't, and what the gap between your values and your leadership is actually costing you and your organization.
Explore what's possible. You'll get a clear picture of how the Monk Principles framework applies to your specific situation — whether you're an individual leader, a leadership team, or an organization ready for something deeper.
Discern the right next step. Together we'll determine whether working with Mike makes sense — and if so, how. There's no pressure, no pitch, and no obligation. Just an honest conversation about what you need and whether this is the right fit.
This call is for leaders who are serious about transformation — not looking for a quick fix, but ready to do the kind of work that actually changes things.
“We really appreciated the opportunity to partner with Mike Ferrell as he took our top leadership group through his Monk Principles. He is very knowledgeable of business and leadership principles, but also in tune with Benedictine ways of thinking and working in the world. He was a big help in initiating fresh thoughts and steps for Madonna as we strive to reconnect our rehabilitation work with our Catholic Benedictine heritage.”

Creating Positive Deviance
Much like sunflowers naturally turning toward the sun, the Heliotropic Effect highlights how all living organisms, including humans, are instinctively drawn to positivity and light. When we harness this effect within a business or organization, we foster positive deviance—where individuals or teams, despite facing the same challenges and limitations as others, adopt unique but effective behaviors and strategies that lead to significantly better results.
The advantages of embracing positive deviance in a business are profound and far-reaching.
“Mike has demonstrated through his many years in business and research that a leader’s sustainable success is a result of the integration of his/her desire and ability to integrate best business practices, understanding of human behavior, and the pursuit of virtue. One does not have to be around Mike for any length of time to observe that this is a way of life for him”
